When it comes to setting serious standards, nothing holds the UAE back. From a record-breaking real estate market, all the way to hosting the world’s best cities to work and live in - there isn’t much that surprises us when it comes to the UAE.
The UAE has once again proven its prowess, and this time in the aviation sector, claiming the number one spot worldwide for the quality of its air transport infrastructure!
Coming first in line, this achievement is more than just a statistic - In the recently released World Economic Forum’s Travel and Tourism Development Index (TTDI) 2024, the UAE emerged as a global leader, setting new standards in civil aviation.
Not only did it top the Quality of Air Transport Infrastructure indicator globally, but it also secured the third position for Efficiency of Air Transport Services and Available Airline Seat Kilometres – millions per week.
Moreover, the UAE continues to dominate regionally. It is a leader in the MENA region in both the Number of Operating Airlines and Air Transport Agreements indicators. Now, that’s something!
The UAE’s accolades don’t stop there…
The UAE also achieved the top global ranking in the Quality of Air Transport category in the Global Competitiveness Report 2023 by the International Institute for Management Development.
Abdullah bin Touq Al Marri, Minister of Economy and Chairman of the General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) spoke on the success of the UAE's aviation sector as a collaborative effort. Every stakeholder within the civil aviation community, from government entities to national carriers, played a vital role in achieving this recognition. The minister pointed out that this effort is aligned with the national goal of creating a future where the UAE leads, innovates, and connects the world through a sustainable aviation system.
Saif Mohammed Al Suwaidi, who is also the Director-General of the GCAA, noted that the continuous efforts of the GCAA and its strategic partners have played a major part in developing air transport infrastructure, improving services, and expanding international partnerships. These efforts have not only strengthened the UAE’s position as a major travel and tourism hub but also ensured that it remains at the forefront of the future of aviation in the UAE.
As the nation continues to push boundaries and bring in new technologies, it sets a benchmark for the industry worldwide.
