Step back in time: New historic museum opens in Old Dubai

Ever wondered what it would be like to journey back in time through Old Dubai?

Whether you’re new to the city or have been here longer than you can remember, have you ever paused to think, just how did the incredible seven emirates come together?

In a city known for its futuristic skyscrapers and forward thinking aspirations (flying taxis to name just one!) - the incredible history of Dubai is something that we can often forget to appreciate.

However, last week his Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, opened a brand new historic sight in old Dubai which is the Al Shindagha Museum.

The museum is a true celebration of the UAE's rich history and showcases the nation's impressive development over the years. It's a chance to take an immersive journey through the nation's past, by hearing the story of Dubai and the UAE's growth. The space is spread across 80 historical houses and features an additional 22 pavilions on history - dating back as far as the 1800s!

Not just all, Al Shindagha area is also set to be transformed into an open-air museum.

The space will be over 300,000 square metres of land and display our spectacular city!

Pretty mesmerising right?

The Al Shindagha area is definitely worth a visit if you’re looking for a taste of old Dubai.

Plan your visit and enjoy fascinating historical hubs such as the Perfume House, which explores the development of iconic Emirati fragrances over time or Dubai creek where you can explore numerous pavilions such as the Birth of a City, Emerging City, Beauty and Adornment, Traditional Healthcare, and many others.

Once you’ve got your history fix, why not head down to Palm West Beach to grab a bite to eat on the beach or check out our must-see hot spots for the month of March.
