Here are our tips on how to keep the air you breathe at home safe and clean:

Vacuum and dust regularly

Keep on top of your housework to help keep your home air clean. Dust particles and sand can be circulating freely around your home for you to breathe in regularly.

Dust first! Vacuuming about 15 minutes after dusting will make sure you collect all the dust and sand particles that you have shifted from elsewhere. It’s also a good idea to empty your vacuum cleaner in your outside bin as soon as you’ve finished so that each time you vacuum, it is free of all particles from your last clean.

House plants

You can find house plants which will help to purify the air you breath at home!

Some plants use their roots, foliage and leaves to eliminate the toxic chemicals found in the air. However, you must check that the indoor plants you choose are safe for your pets and for yourself - some plants can be harmful to animals and humans.
Some of the best indoor plants and easy to care for plants for the office or your home include:
English ivy– English Ivy can effectively remove most air pollutants. It’s an excellent plant to try indoors. Apart from occasional watering and misting they do not require a lot of maintenance.

Palm trees e.g Areca Palm Tree – When it comes to removing indoor pollutants, palm trees are the perfect specimen. Palm trees thrive well in a cool environment and will do well in this type of situation. As one of the best trees for indoors, palm trees add interest and variety to a room, whether it’s an office or living room, and remove harmful toxins at the same time. You can’t go wrong with a palm tree inside.

Mother in Law’s Tongue (Snake Plant) - This indoor plant is the perfect addition to your home, especially the bathroom. It thrives on humidity and, of course, purifies the air and extradites pollutants.

Garbage

Take your garbage out daily! Your garbage can add too the toxicity of the air with rotting and decaying foods. Choose a garbage bin with a sealed lid instead of keeping it open. At the end of every day, remember to take your kitchen and food waste outside to your garbage disposal shoot or your outdoor wheelie bin.

Clean your AC unit

It is so important that you show your AC unit some love. Call AC specialists to give your AC a full clean and maintenance for all the hard work it does and ensure you get them to service all units in your home regularly. You can also keep your AC vents clean yourself by dusting the air vents regularly so when the AC unit is turned on, it does not blow out dust and debris into your room.

Invest in an air purifier

An air purifier uses a system of internal fans to pull air in through a series of filters to remove harmful and toxic bacteria from your home air. If you suffer from asthma or alergies, an air purifier is a must as they remove asthma triggers such as dry skin cells, dirt, dust, carbon monoxide, household cleaners, air-freshening sprays, smoke from cooking and more!
