What is Expo 2020 Dubai?

Expo 2020 has been a huge topic of conversation in the UAE for years now. It is the most recent in a long line of World Expos hosted around the world. The World Expo series began in 1851 with the inaugural event held in London, United Kingdom. The Expo shows are a global meeting of nations focused on finding solutions to the world's most pressing issues, engaging attendees through immersive and interactive activities. Attendees can reach the millions! The event in Dubai will be the first to be held in the Middle East, Africa, and South Asia, highlighting the UAE's position at the forefront of discussions influencing how we harness the potential of, and engage with technology.

What’s happening at Expo 2020 Dubai?

Over 190 countries will come together in Dubai for a global exchange of culture and innovation. Participants have been given the opportunity to present in their own pavilion to demonstrate how their country contributes to important global debates on highly talked about themes. Expo 2020 focuses on three main themes: sustainability, mobility, and opportunity which are explored in different ways across three distinct districts.

What happens to the site after Expo 2020 Dubai?

Large areas of the site have legacy ambitions in place after Expo 2020, with Terra planned to become a Science Centre at the show's completion. Pavilions that are not permanently installed will be deconstructed, and the materials used in their construction will be reused in future projects. The participating countries were given the task of using sustainable construction methods for their national pavilions in order to meet Expo 2020's overarching themes.

What are the social distancing guidelines for Expo 2020 Dubai?

There will be social distancing regulations in place, including the requirement to wear a mask at all times when both indoors and outside. Visitors will be expected to keep at least a two-meter gap between each other. Hand sanitisers will be accessible around the site and visitors are encouraged to use it as often as possible.
