From January 19th - 20th, 2015, the Arjaan Hotel, Dubai, played host to this year’s Future Interiors conference, following the shows huge success in Doha last September.

Interior design is an increasingly important part of any construction project and is often the area of a build that grabs the initial impression and lingers long in the memory. Demand is high for energy efficient, cost-effective interiors as well as visually beautiful, which means that the interior of any project has to be considered early on in the construction process.

Thanks to a major boost in tourism and return of projects on hold, the interior design market in Dubai is growing. In particular, the UAE hospitality interior design market, led by companies that provide furnishing for hotels. According to Leila Abdul Rahim, director of hospitality interior design firm HBA/ Hirsch Bedner Associates in the Middle East,

“There’s been a positive movement [since] last year, with the announcement of new major developments that triggered developers to put held projects back on track. For that reason, we’re moving quicker.”

Demand for interior design and fit-outs in the UAE has strengthened compared to 2009-2012, due to a resurgence in construction projects across every sector. The UAE's interior design and fit-out market is valued at over $2.7 billion in 2014, according to Ventures Middle East data and the country accounts for 35.5 percent of the GCC's interior design and fit-out market. Estimated expenditure on interiors and fit-outs in the region stands at over $9.5 billion for 2014 alone, with this figure set to grow in 2015.
