A Coventry man who sold his property within two hours of it going on sale believes it is a sign that the market is picking up.
House prices are reportedly up by 0.7 percent in the latest round of monthly figures and transactions are increasing too.
And Dereck Beverley, who sold his property in Binley just two hours after putting it on the market through Allsopp & Allsopp, believes the improving market can be seen in the city.
He said: “I’d read about Allsopp & Allsopp in the Coventry Telegraph and how they were a new company so decided I would get them in to look at valuing and selling the property.
“I also had two other agents round and, to be honest, I felt they were more interested in a quick sale rather than getting the best possible price for me.
“Clint from Allsopp & Allsopp put a valuation on the house that I felt was both realistic and was more in keeping with what I felt we could achieve so I decided to go with them.
“And, because of the contacts he’d already built-up, he organised a viewing less than two hours after we had first met, we agreed to price with the purchaser and the house was sold really quickly.
“It shows that things are improving when it comes to the property market here.”
The three-bedroom end of the terraced property was sold for £180,000 having originally been put on the market for £185,000.
That was still a cool £10,000 more than other agents had valued the home at.
Dereck added: “I would like to move again in the not-too-distant future and I would definitely use Allsopp & Allsopp again after this experience.”
Nikki Eaton, branch manager for Allsopp & Allsopp, said: “There really are signs that the market is improving here but it’s still important to find an agent who will work with you to get the right price for you.
“We have got lots of potential buyers on our waiting list and that means that, like on this occasion, we can match them with new properties as they come onto the market.”
