Dubai launches a new system for business approvals with the 'Dubai Unified Licence'

Dubai is once again at the forefront of innovation, creating waves in sustainable fields, business, real estate and all over.

What’s new, you might ask?

Well, the Dubai Government is now making business setup and operations more seamless with the introduction of the 'Dubai Unified Licence' (DUL). So, essentially you don't have to wait in long queues or worry about hefty paper work chewing up your time anymore!

How great is that? We’ve got the whole scoop on it.

All you need to know about the Dubai Unified License

The primary aim of the Dubai Unified Licence is to boost efficiency and cut down the time it takes for companies to kickstart and manage their operations in Dubai.

This initiative is launched as a big step towards a unified digital registry that assigns a unique commercial identification to every business, whether on the mainland or in a free zone and The Department of Economy and Tourism is leading this initiative with the Dubai Free Zones Council.

What are the key features of the Dubai Unified License?

1. Digital ease and harmony for businesses: The collaboration with the Dubai Free Zones Council results in a unified digital registry. This means that no matter the business, all will be digitally stored in a unified place.

2. Streamlining the global processes: The DUL initiative aims to standardise and streamline Dubai’s business processes, aligning them with global best practices. This ensures that the latest company records, including licence details and data, are consistently maintained within the registry.

3. Enhancing efficiency: By simplifying setup and operational procedures, the Dubai Unified Licence is set to enhance efficiency and reduce the time required for companies to establish and manage their operations.

This is going to boost Dubai’s appeal for international business!

This new move is going to fortify Dubai’s standing as a business-friendly destination even more.

For an international investor to be able to digitally receive business approvals is extremely hassle-free and saves them time on travel, etc.

Its transparent and easy

The unified digital platform provided by the DUL offers greater transparency and easy access to business-related information for all businesses registered in Dubai. This transparency enhances Dubai’s appeal as a dynamic and trustworthy investment destination.

How cool is that?

Thorough validation and verification

As part of the initiative, businesses will undergo thorough validation, verification, and screening by the authorities to receive their unique digital identity, this also helps maintain safety for businesses and avoids white collar crimes.

Currently to date, DET has issued over 50,000 licences, with plans to issue more in the coming period. This includes coverage for all registered companies in Dubai mainland and in free zones.

Helal Saeed Al Marri, Director-General of the Dubai Department of Economy and Tourism, emphasised that the 'Dubai Unified Licence' adds to Dubai’s commitment to ease of doing business, transparency, and embracing digital-first practices.

Dr. Mohammed Al Zarooni, Secretary-General of the Dubai Free Zones Council, commended the successful completion of the initiative, highlighting the constructive cooperation that resulted in a unified licence system in record time.

The benefits behind the DUL

The Dubai Unified Licence isn't just a paperwork revolution; it presents a range of key features and benefits for users. From simplified issuance of No Objection Certificates (NOCs) and permits to unified and verified information about existing businesses, the DUL is designed to make business verification processes smoother and more efficient.

Also, businesses under the DUL can use a unique QR Code on their premises, websites, and social media accounts instead of presenting traditional trade licence certificates. This QR Code enables easy retrieval of information about the company by scanning, facilitating interactions with government entities, service providers, suppliers, and customers.

Rolling out the DUL

During the current phase, existing businesses and commercial establishments in Dubai, including those in free zones, will receive their unique 'Dubai Unified Licence' Number and associated QR codes upon completion of the data update process.

In a nutshell, the 'Dubai Unified Licence' is a groundbreaking step towards a more efficient, transparent, and business-friendly Dubai.
