Although Sultan Al Neyadi’s space mission on the Falcon 9 rocket was postponed today due to technical issues - we’ll still be bracing ourselves for lift-off on Thursday March 2.
The SpaceX flight is scheduled for lift-off at 9.34am UAE time. What did our president have to say to the first Emirati astronaut heading into space?
His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nayhan shared a phone call with the Arab astronaut, Sultan Al Neyadi where he prayed for the astronauts success, safety and strong return. He also mentioned to the 42 year old to consistently workout, to ensure he stays strong in space!
This mission will make the UAE the 11th country to send its astronauts to the ISS (International Space Station). The six-crew flight with lead Emirati astronaut, Sultan Al Neyadi will be taking off from the Kennedy Space Centre in Florida on Thursday, 2nd March. This long-haul mission will stretch for a period of six-months and can be streamed live here.
