Close the distance: Expats with AED 10,000 salary can now sponsor their family

There’s no question why so many expats make Dubai their new home. Whether it’s for the sunshine, world-class hospitality, sandy beaches or simply just in search of a fresh start.

We agree, it’s the place to be - and it’s not slowing down!

This week, the UAE Government announced a brand new visa update which, for anyone wanting to sponsor their loved ones, could be a major game changer!

Under the new law, if you earn a salary of AED 10,000 or more, you are now able to sponsor up to five relatives in the UAE (previously AED 20,000).

However, there are some other boxes you’ll need to tick to ensure a successful application.

To sponsor a relative, an expat must:

  1. Have adequate housing

  2. A running monthly income

  3. Hold a degree of kinship

For those with a monthly income of AED 15,000 you can sponsor six individuals.

However, if you’ve got a large family that wants to join you in Dubai, of over six people, you’ll have to submit an application to the Chairman of the Authority who will determine your suitability.
