Covid-19 restriction update

The end of restrictions is near! Great news for some but anxiety triggering for others!

Dubai announced this week that as of the 1st of March 2022, masks need not be worn outside. This is welcomed as we’re about to head into those humid summer months.

Close contacts no longer need to quarantine! No more dreading the phone call from your friends after a lovely evening out when they test positive for the virus! However, be prepared to spend some money as a consequence - close contacts need to do a PCR test for five consecutive days if they would like to go about their life as normal.

Get your spare room tidied up - there is no longer a need for travellers coming to Dubai to get a PCR test beforehand so long as they are fully vaccinated! This is great news as tests overseas can be costly where travelling to get a test must also be taken into consideration.

Rental index - 52% new contracts

The Dubai Land Department and property portal, Property Finder have teamed up to create Dubai’s first rental index. The most recent index shows that 52% of rentals in January were new contracts. This means that over half of the rental contracts for that month were people moving into a new home and not renewing their current rent!

With Expo coming to an end, we were all wondering what would become of the very impressive Expo site. The site will become District 2020 and will be Dubai’s 15 minute city! Residents will be able to reach all essential outlets within a 15 minute walk from their front door. This sustainable way of living is sure to attract a variety of expats and locals who are looking to live somewhere new, exciting and only a short metro ride into the hustle and bustle if the city.
