Breaking news: UAE introduces Commercial Gaming and National Lottery!

The UAE has always been the first to set records within the region and globally too, and here’s another record breaking record set!

To start off an exciting week and kick off the ninth month of the year, the United Arab Emirates has announced the establishment of a new federal authority which will be overseeing commercial gaming and a national lottery.

The federal authority is the General Commercial Gaming Regulatory Authority (GCGRA) , which will mark a significant step towards creating a comprehensive regulatory framework for commercial gaming and the national lottery.

For the GCGRA, the newly appointed CEO is Kevin Mullally, who comes with 30 years of experience in this field and is also a globally respected figure in gaming regulation. Mr. Mullally's appointment as CEO of the GCGRA signifies a major stride in ensuring the UAE's lottery and gaming industry adheres to the best international practices.

Last week, in a press conference, Mr. Mullally shared his enthusiasm, saying, "I am delighted to have been appointed as the inaugural CEO of the GCGRA. With my experienced colleagues, I look forward to establishing a robust regulatory body and framework for the UAE’s lottery and gaming industry." Impressive!

The GCGRA comprises a team of internationally recognized leaders, each possessing a proven track record and deep insights into global best practices for effectively regulating and maintaining a safe and responsible gaming industry. Jim Murren, an industry veteran, chairs the Board of Directors, and he welcomed Mr. Mullally's appointment, emphasising his unparalleled expertise in the field.

What are the GCGRA’s goals?

One of the primary objectives of the GCGRA is to establish a socially responsible and well-regulated gaming environment that is safe. This entails ensuring that all participants adhere to stringent guidelines set and uphold the highest standards of conduct.
