Dubai ranks as TripAdvisor’s world’s best destination for 2024!

In a hat-trick victory, Dubai has once again caught the title of the world's best tourist destination for the third consecutive year in Tripadvisor Travellers' Choice Awards.

Not only does this cement that Dubai is and always will be a haven for tourism but also solidifies that we can expect many more new residents coming to Dubai this year. All coming in line with the 2040 Urban Master Plan of achieving 5.8 million residents.

In case you didn’t know, these awards are determined by public votes, reflecting the quality and quantity of traveller reviews and ratings on Tripadvisor over the past year. And there’s no wondering why Dubai scored number one on the ranking!

So, let us break down just everything else for you…

The celebration of success for Dubai

Since the beginning of 2024, this was the first accolade for Dubai, or shall we say first of many! And Sheikh Hamdan, who is the Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of The Executive Council, himself proudly announced this achievement on social media.

Sheikh Hamdan shared that, "Dubai has once again secured the top spot as the No.1 global destination in the 2024 Tripadvisor Travellers’ Choice Awards, making it the first city to achieve this recognition for three consecutive years in a row."

Last year, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Ruler of Dubai, had shared his ambitious goals for Dubai's tourism sector within the Dubai Economic Agenda, and mentioned he would want to position Dubai among the top three global economic cities and tourist destinations.

Who ranked along the list?

Dubai's win was very closely followed by multiple other cities such as Bali and London in the rankings. Although, Europe and Asia dominated the majority of the top 10 destinations, here is the list of the top winners:

1. Dubai, UAE 2. Bali, Indonesia 3. London, UK 4. Hanoi, Vietnam 5. Rome, Italy 6. Paris, France 7. Cancun, Mexico 8. Marrakech, Morocco 9. Crete, Greece 10. Hoi An, Vietnam

Tripadvisor aptly captured Dubai's essence, stating, "Everything feels extra spectacular — from the ultra-modern Burj Khalifa to the souks and malls filled with gold and jewellery vendors. It’s a place where if you can dream it, you can do it: Whether that means skiing indoors, dune-surfing in the desert, or zip-lining above the city."

In addition to the top destinations, Tripadvisor also shared the best trending destinations, with Tokyo and Seoul leading the charge as Asian capitals gaining popularity among tourists. These destinations were:
