Dubai’s schools see $144 billion expansion plans!

Parents listen up - you’re going to want to hear about this one.
Key schools in Dubai have been allocated a budget of $144 billion in support of setting new education standards.
That’s a mighty budget of AED 528 billion, set to revamp and renovate some of Dubai’s most popular schools.
In an announcement earlier this week, Sheikh Hamdan, Crowne Prince of Dubai, allocated a budget for the education system in Dubai as it aligns with the ambitious Dubai Social Agenda D33.
Now, you might be wondering what schools fall under this radar, and what those changes are set to be - as always we’re here to break it down…
What new plans are on the horizon?
This expansion includes the construction of a new school in Al Khawaneej and the expansion of the existing Dubai School’s Al Barsha branch.
These two developments will increase the capacity by over 6,400 seats, with 295 classrooms and 123 laboratories and specialised classrooms.
By 2033 the ‘Dubai Schools' brand aims to offer a total of 15,000 spaces for pupils.

Diving into the nitty-gritty details of these projects:
The new school in Al Khawaneej is set to be built over 446,720 square feet and can accommodate 4,028 students from kindergarten to grade 12. The school will have 149 classrooms, 71 laboratories, and specialised classrooms equipped with cutting-edge technologies.
Better yet, the school will feature indoor pools, sports halls, a football pitch, and outdoor courts, along with a spacious library to enhance the learning environment - keeping up with Dubai’s standards for education.
The expansion of the Al Barsha branch on the other hand will add 2,408 seats through 98 new classrooms, building the current capacity to 3,520 students upon completion.
This project includes indoor pools, sports halls, outdoor courts, and specialised classrooms, all designed to meet international standards and provide students with a conducive learning environment.
How did these initiatives come into place?
This initiative aligns with Dubai's D33 vision to elevate its education standards and rank among the top ten educational hubs globally - by actively investing in new technologies, facilities, and innovation.
The Al Khawaneej and Al Barsha schools are the first of their kind for this vision, catering to a diverse student body from 38 different nationalities.
Sheikh Hamdan's approval for expanding the 'Dubai Schools' project shows Dubai's dedication to investing in education, and to improve the city's educational system.
