As we close off the first half of 2024, Dubai’s property market has shown impressive growth across all residential sectors with no signs of slowing down.
Another day, another record - and that’s just another day in Dubai.
This time around, Dubai International Airport (DXB) was awarded as the world’s busiest airport for the 10th consecutive year in a row - and this comes right after Dubai Airports welcomed 3.67 million tourists in just the first quarter of 2024.
The airport catered to 86.9 million passengers in 2023, and these traffic figures were 31.7% up from 2022!
So, let us break down everything you need to know about this…
The Airports Council International (ACI), has just released its prestigious rankings for the busiest aviation hubs worldwide. Topping the list in the international passenger category is Dubai International Airport.
ACIan organisation dedicated to uniting airport authorities and setting industry standards, has recognised DXB's global significance for the 10th year in a row.
What's remarkable here is that Dubai secured the second spot in the overall ‘passengers’ category for the first time in history. Throughout 2023, DXB witnessed a remarkable rise in traffic, adding to Dubai’s appeal as a global travel hub.
On the list, Dubai's aviation standards stood out even more as it surpassed other renowned airports like London Heathrow with 74.9 million and Amsterdam Schiphol, with 61.8 million passengers respectively in 2023.
The forecast ahead?
ACI announced an impressive forecast for global passenger traffic in 2023 of nearing 8.5 billion passengers, which accounted for 93.8% of pre-pandemic levels, and highlighted the essential role of international travel in driving the industry forward.
Paul Griffiths, CEO of Dubai Airports, shared his immense pride in DXB's enduring success. He shared DXB's unwavering commitment to maintaining its dominant position for the foreseeable future.

He highlighted notable shifts in the rankings, with Dubai’s incredible rise to the second position. Additionally, he commended airports like Tokyo Haneda and Istanbul for their significant progress as well.
Now, you might be wondering how they assess these rankings. ACI's rankings are based on comprehensive data from thousands of airports worldwide, cementing its position as the foremost authority on airport travel demand. They look at accuracy and reliability in assessing airport performance and overall global connectivity.
