As we close off the first half of 2024, Dubai’s property market has shown impressive growth across all residential sectors with no signs of slowing down.
Sunny winters, unbeatable views, the finest dinners, and all the world records - Dubai is something on every traveller's wishlist, and there’s no wondering why!
This time around, our visitor count just shot up by 18% compared to last year, and it's only been three months into 2024!
Just after Dubai’s population shot up by over 25,700 in the first quarter of 2024 - we’ve now also welcomed 3.67 million tourists through our gates in the same period.
The Tourism Performance Report for January-February 2024 is out by the Department of Economic Development (DET). The report highlighted some interesting insights about Dubai’s tourism.
In January, Dubai welcomed 1.77 million international visitors, and in February the number went up to 1.9 million.
European travellers were the highest in number, holding the ranks at 21% of the total visitors, followed by South Asians with 17%, and GCC countries with 15%.
Visitors from the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) and Eastern Europe came fourth with 14%, and those from the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region were fifth with 12%.
Dubai also saw visitors from North and Southeast Asia - making up 9%, with visitors from the US at 7%, Africa at 4%, and around 1% from Australia.
The report also gave us an insight into the increase in hotel rooms from 148,450 to 151,269 compared to the same period last year. This means the average occupancy rate grew by 3% year-on-year, reaching 87% occupancy this past quarter. The total occupied room nights rose to 7.78 million, with an average stay of 3.8 nights by most visitors.
Noticed a slight increase in hotel rates compared to last year? If you did, your hunch was spot on! Dubai had a 9% increase in average daily rates compared to Q1 last year. But even with the increase, it’s hard to say no to a little staycation once in a while!
