From Ballet to Business: Emma Kerr’s Dubai Success Story

For 12 years, Emma Kerr lived her dream as a professional ballet dancer with the Birmingham Royal Ballet. By the time she turned thirty, she faced a reality all dancers eventually do, which is retiring or changing careers. She could continue performing for a few more years, but retirement was inevitable. Emma wanted a new challenge, something that offered longevity, growth, and the chance to build a future.
Dubai offered exactly that. With its fast paced property market and limitless opportunities, Emma made the leap into real estate with Allsopp & Allsopp in February 2024.
She began her journey in the Dubai Hills lettings team. Emma believes all newcomers to the industry should experience the rental market as it provides a solid foundation in both learning the job and the community you work in. After six months, an opportunity arose in the Dubai Hills sales team, though the transition wasn’t easy, Emma jumped at the opportunity.
Switching from lettings to sales meant stepping into a very different pace of work. Lettings provided quick wins and constant motivation, whereas sales required patience, persistence, and mental resilience. Many in her team found the adjustment too challenging, but Emma pushed through, knowing success would only come with determination.
It took months before she closed her first sales deal, but once she did, the momentum built quickly. Recently, she achieved her biggest success yet, earning more from a single transaction than she made in an entire year as a professional dancer.
“The job is stressful and hard work, but it can be massively rewarding,” says Emma. “What I’ve learned is that if you stay consistent and keep pushing through the tough days, the results do come and when they do, they can change your life. I’ve found the company to be super supportive and helpful, always giving me the guidance I need, and I feel very at home here at Allsopp & Allsopp. It’s a place where you’re pushed to be your best, but also backed every step of the way.”
Emma’s story is proof that while the challenges of real estate are real - long hours, relentless effort, and patience with delayed rewards, the payoff can be life changing. From the ballet stage to the booming property scene in the heart of Dubai, she’s built a new career that offers not only financial freedom but also a clear path for growth which she has never had before.
