Driving change: RTA releases new plan to reduce traffic in Dubai

We know how it goes.

You have a great day at work, leave the office looking forward to your evening plans, and then bang - you once again, find yourself banging your head on the steering wheel, stuck in the dreaded traffic jams that take over Hessa St!

Well hold your honks - we come bearing great news!

The Roads Transport Authority (RTA) has just unveiled brand-new plans to develop Hessa St and ease traffic congestion.

Entrances and exits will be upgraded, upper bridges will be improved and the road’s overall capacity will be increased

Exits in JVC and JVT will also be enhanced to help with traffic in both areas.

Earlier this week, the RTA took to Twitter to announce the enhancements:

“Kindly note that we will start developing Hessa Street in 2023, starting from Sheikh Zayed Road to Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road, whereby the entrances and exits will improve, the upper bridges will advance, and the road capacity will increase.

“Also please note that we are coordinating with Nakheel to improve all the exits of JVC and JVT to enhance the traffic flow in the area. Please follow our social media channels for further updates.”

There’s no doubt this news will be a sigh of relief for many who use the busy Hessa St route on a daily basis – and that’s not the only area in the city driving change (see what we did there).

The new flyover in Ras Al Khor has also recently opened, providing shorter travel times around Dubai Creek Harbour.

This flyover links Nad Al Hamar road with Ras Al Khor road as part of the RTA's Sheikh Rashid bin Saeed Corridor Improvement Project, leading to an increase in road capacity to accommodate 30,000 vehicles. Phew!

All in all, it’s great to see enhancements and improvements helping us to get around Dubai with less honking and more smiling!
