This week’s episode of Taking Care of Business is a special one as CEO; Lewis Allsopp is joined by the Senior Vice President of Kerzner Group, Jonathan Tomilison, who was the man behind the grand opening of the ultra-luxurious; Atlantis the Royal. (sheesh!)
Even better, this podcast aired from the 43rd floor, within Atlantis the Royal’s magnificent penthouse. It really doesn’t get better than this, so let’s jump right into it!
As the world’s current standing, most ultra-luxurious hotel, the views are just mesmerizing, but Beyonce definitely stole the show at her 45-minute performance during the grand opening, and here’s what Jonathan has to share about that!
Jonathan believes the property is world-class entertainment resort that deserved a mature clientele for its opening, and that’s what birthed the concept of having Queen B be a part of it. But Queen B wasn’t the only shining star to glisten on the red carpet, Kerzner Group also included multiple international and local Instagram sensations to the party, which surely set a standard for the property.
Performances were surely a highlight, but the restaurant at the property also set a standard within the culinary industry. Starting off with Milos, serving high-end Greek cuisine, which sits opposite the fire fountain (yup, a fire fountain) overlooking the Palm, it resonates well with the mature profile of the resort. To add to that, there’s Ling Ling, Nobu and multiple other celebrity chef experiences hosted at Atlantis the Royal. Let's not forget, Michelin starred experiences, such as La Mar and more!
Lewis then asked Jonathan about Kerzner Group and its vision for ultra-luxurious properties.
“The foundation started with Sol Kota Kerzner who, for those that don't know, Sol Kerzner, is one of the most incredible visionaries that ever existed. He created properties like Atlantis. He also was behind the very first; One&Only properties, also our oldest one only property in Mauritius and the St. John, that opened in 1975.
So, he always had that incredible vision to create new ultra-luxury destinations. And let's look at the portfolio, particularly with One&Only. We will see that a lot of the resort locations that we have, are in these very unique, untouched locations where people just have these incredible one-of-a-kind type of experiences. So that vision that originally came from Sol Kerzner years ago, and now lives on through Kerzner Group, serving as a company that is moving in the direction of continuing to create ultra luxury and luxury experiences in very unique destinations around the world”
What’s next for Kerzner Group?
Jonathan shared that Kerzner is expanding on branded residences line One & Only at One Zabeel, and SIRO, which is set to launch at the end of this year. This property will allow residents to experience everything that the group has to offer, from royal concierge services to branded restaurants, the properties will allow clients to experience ultra-luxury from their home.
