As we close off the first half of 2024, Dubai’s property market has shown impressive growth across all residential sectors with no signs of slowing down.
You might be wondering - what’s new in Dubai?
Well, there’s a lot in the pipeline that’s new for Dubai but until then the city is just planning another world record and It comes as no surprise as Dubai has already turned the land into an architectural marvel of world records, but now its set its sights on the shores.
You might be thinking, how's that? Well, Dubai plans to transform the city’s sea zone into a floating living lab for marine restoration and ecotourism that would be the world’s largest, possibly breaking yet another record!
This world record is called Dubai Reefs!
Sheesh! And we’ve got all the details, so let’s get right into it…
What’s the Dubai Reefs project all about, and what can we expect?
Dubai Reefs is not just another world record but is a sustainable floating community that would be dedicated to marine research, regeneration and ecotourism. The goal behind this is to work towards greater protection of the marine and coastal environment of Dubai.
And that’s not all, Dubai Reefs will also include residential complexes, retail outlets, eco-lodges, wave farms and ocean farming. Oh, and in case we didn’t mention, this whole project will be powered completely through 100% renewable energy such as solar power and hydropower. I don’t know about you but my mind is blown!
These wave farms will also produce additional clean energy for the emirate’s growing population and the Regenerative Ocean Farming is another key feature of the project, which is a climate-friendly food production technique. - Yup, Dubai is pulling out all the stops!
What’s more, you ask?
This artificial reef would cover over 200 square metres - Yes, 200 square metres! And even better, this reef will be home to over 1 billion corals and 100 million mangroves. All this ties into Dubai’s goals towards being a greener and more sustainable city.
URB, the developer behind this project plans to accommodate over 30,000 new jobs in the green economy through this project, and that’s not all! There are also going to be educational facilities and hospitality spaces for the youth who are looking to pursue a career in this field.
All in all, Dubai Reefs aims to create a beautiful balance between the city and the ocean, by transforming the emirate into an eco-destination! Its goal is to bring social, environmental, and economic benefits to the region, all under one roof. Isn’t that fantastic?
Dubai Reef’s is currently in the first phase of its development, and with Dubai’s pace we can expect off-plan listings to begin once the artificial reef welcomes residential developers.
