Emirates ID update: Dubai Courts call on all residents to update their Emirates ID’s

If you’ve been a resident in Dubai for more than a minute now, you probably know how the Emirates ID and residence visa system works, and if you don’t - we suggest reading up our guide to UAE visas.

But for those of you who are up to speed, and are official visa and Emirates ID holders in the country - it's important to note that:

Dubai Courts now require all residents to update their Emirates ID details.

On Friday, the Federal Authority for Identity and Citizenship, Customs and Port Security shared an alert posted via Twitter which read, “Our valued customers, please update your Emirates ID at the Federal Authority for Identity and Citizenship, Customs and Ports Security via the following link: https://icp.gov.ae/service/ @UAEICP #DubaiCourts #Dubai #UAE”.

Official Emirates IDs are set to be updated as this makes it easier for the authorities to reach the customer in the case of any legal proceedings in Dubai Courts. And the prices for a new Emirates ID will cost you AED 370 instead of AED 270, this price change applies to one-month visit visas too.

The form for Emirates IDs has also been redesigned in accordance with the ICP's visual identity, reflecting their commitment to a consistent brand image. Here are all the changes in the form:

-The applicant's personal photo should be affixed in the top left corner of the form.

-A QR code located on the top right of the form enables easy tracking of the application.

-The form includes a dedicated section explaining the next steps in the process. The company name and address for card delivery are stated on the bottom left of the form.

-A QR code is provided to access the Customer Voice Gateway, facilitating complaint registration with the ICP.

-Another QR code allows customers to reschedule their fingerprint appointment.

-Earlier this year, the ICP announced an increase in fees for issuing Emirates IDs and visas, affecting all their services, as confirmed by a representative.
