Road to relief: Al Khail road to see a AED 700 million transformation!

Your traffic prayers have been answered!

Where there’s a will, there’s a way - right?

Yes right! Dubai’s roads are finally getting that extra bit of TLC they deserve, with new plans announced to enhance yet another major traffic route in the city which is set to ease traffic conditions and enhance smooth movement around the city!

Al Khail road is the next into line to see a major makeover.

Cruising right in…a AED 700 million upgrade is underway!

The expansive project is set to cover a 6,820-metre area along Al Khail Road, and will support neighbourhoods including Zabeel, Meydan, Al Quoz 1, Ghadeer Al Tair, and Jumeirah Village Circle.

Main construction works will be centered around the creation of additional bridges that will span more than 3,000 meters across various areas in the city.

The main objective behind these works are to enhance the road's capacity, alleviate congestion, and facilitate smoother traffic flow. By location:

1. Zabeel: Travelling in and out of the financial hub is about to get easier with a three-lane bridge, stretching 700 meters underway to accommodate 4,800 vehicles per hour in the direction of and from Zabeel.

2. Meydan to Ras Al Khor: We can expect a two-lane bridge, spanning 610 meters to support the route of 3,200 cars per hour between Meydan Street and Ras Al Khor Street.

3. Al Quoz 1: It’ll be easier to connect on to Sheikh Zayed Road from this 650-metre two-lane bridge that is under construction at the intersections of Al Meydan Street and Al Waha Street, to ensure there is a smoother traffic flow between Al Meydan Road and Al Khail Road heading towards Abu Dhabi.

4. Jumeirah Village Circle: Say goodbye to your Hessa St nightmares, as we can expect a 700-metre, two-lane bridge to connect Al Khail Road and Hessa Street.

5. Latifa Bint Hamdan Street: This two-lane bridge spans across 640-metres and will connect Latifa Bint Hamdan Street to Al Meydan Street, making way for 3,200 cars per hour.

6. Al Jaddaf: Planning to head to Old Dubai? Additional lanes are going to be added on Al Khail Road to ease traffic flow to Deira.

7. Business Bay: Entering the bustling Business Bay in the mornings is going to become far easier, as an extra lane on Al Khail Road is coming in to improve traffic and access to the community.

The announcement of these entries and exits came from recent discussions at the Federal National Council, where the RTA highlighted the need for enhanced infrastructure to tackle traffic challenges in Dubai.
